Dog Gone Dogs

Dogs have been present for most of my life; I share my space with them and enjoy their loyal companionship.  Some were given, others adopted and still more arrived looking lost and hungry.  Many lived out their lives and others vanished as suddenly as they came.  But each brought a gift into my life.  Ironically, it was a cat that started this entire love for animals.  Let me tell you the story.

When I was a small child our cat Tinkerbell had kittens.  They were progressing well and all had good homes awaiting their arrival.  One day a tiny grey tabby became withdrawn and started to drag its body around using only his front legs.  He'd lost all function from the mid-torso down to his feet and a veterinarian recommended he be euthanized.

My mother brought that kitten home wrapped in a towel and proceded with his rehabilitation.  She warmed his bedding, fed him with an eye dropper, changed his towels like a baby and massaged and worked his muscles.  After several months, that tiny kitten grew in size and strength under mom's care.  He eventually had a full recovery and lived a long and healthy life.  I grew up to have dogs, cats and horses, with a love for all animals, even those I fear or don't understand.

Here is a list of a few of my canine friends.  They each come with a descriptive beginning with the letter D.  Thanks for stopping by, friends.
